I would like to bring to your attention the urgent need for the installation of at least one speed hump on Matroosberg Street in Noordheuwel.
Unfortunately, there is extreme lawlessness taking place with some individuals going flat out up and down the road.
The situation is so bad that this morning, Thursday, 23 July, an individual driving a light motor vehicle almost hit a pedestrian standing on the side of the road.
This is not the first time that such a request has been made.
A few years ago, a swimming school requested the installation of speed humps. I can state that I have witnessed two incidents over the last few years where school children attending the swimming school have nearly been hit by speeding vehicles. It is now a case of when and not if a child is going to be killed, and action must be taken.I have attached a map indicating where the speed hump should be located.
I also have attached a photograph (taken on 28 July 2020) of the tyre marks from the said incident mentioned above – only 150 metres away from the swimming school – which provides proof that the neighbourhood is now just a race track for some.
