Good health is a priceless gift

If you don’t take care of your body, you cannot blame God if it starts to give problems.

• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:

It is possible that if you are always healthy, you won’t appreciate good health. People agree good health is a priceless gift.

You may have less than others but if you have your health, you have something money cannot buy. It seems like Jesus met a lot of people that had health issues; the blind, lame, lepers and deaf. People who many of us cannot identify with because we cannot imagine their cross.

Recently I did what I should have done years ago. I joined a gym. Not because I want to be an athlete, I just want to take care of my body. It is amazing watching the people in the gym, young and old, athletic and, well, not athletic at all. Some are there for the show but most, like myself, just want to feel good. If you don’t take care of your body, you cannot blame God if it starts to give problems.

So, if you want to protect your health wealth you need to invest time and resources in your physical wellness.

But we are more than bodies. I have a mind. I need to feed it good info and give it plenty of exercise.

But inside of each of us is a spirit. This too needs an investment. Prayer and meditation are good for the soul.

It is only when we care for all three of these – body, mind and soul – that we can experience life to its full potential.
