• Pastor Gerrit Mes of the AFM Pentecostal Fellowship writes:
We all go through tough times, difficult situations. In fact, we have all felt overwhelmed at times. Who do we turn to? There are professionals in our community who can give advice. But often the people who have the greatest impact on our lives are people without degrees or positions. Ordinary people like ourselves who have as their only credential a road walked. Although it is human to avoid pain and suffering at all cost, we can become equipped to assist others through the road we have travelled.
Four little things that I have experienced through my tough times may help you.
1. After I have gone through hell, I appreciate the good times. My family, friends and my faith are just so appreciated.
2. I have, through my darkest days, developed an empathy with others like you cannot believe. I can feel other people’s pain because of my own.
3. During my battles I have learnt that walking close to God gives me peace in the storm.
4. Because I have survived pain, I see miracles more easily. In fact, every day is a miracle.
Tough times are a teacher in the university of life. Don’t give up, God is preparing you today to help others tomorrow.
