LETTER: The more load-shedding there is the higher my account!
Another resident ends up with a higher than usual electricity bill despite the on-going load-shedding.

The letter from the editor with headline Ons trek aan die korste end finish en klaar, caught my attention.

Clinton should feel satisfied that his account has only gone up by R200. The more load-shedding there is the higher my account.
For example, my June account was R1 200 more than the previous month. My July account was the highest account that I have ever had in my life. It was 74% higher than the same period last year, and since then the astronomical accounts have not ceased, notwithstanding load-shedding and we use gas for cooking. No longer use electric kettles, we have no heaters and use the washing machine only twice a month.

On average my accounts this year are approximately 52% higher than last year. To complain, is a waste of time.
If only I was younger, I could follow my children overseas. The only answer is “sun power” and a borehole, but then they will find other ways to bankrupt you.
Sincerely.
