16 JKA medals won at National Championships
The Krugersdorp Karate Club brings back 16 medals from the SA JKA National Championships.

In celebration of the 50 years of the JKA (Japan Karate Association) in South Africa, the Krugersdorp Karate Club aimed for glory and brought home gold at this year’s National Championships.
Sensei Leon van Niekerk along with his 16 entrants participated in the National JKA Championships that was held at the Stand Bank Arena on 31 May and 1 June.
SA JKA had 3 700 entries on this momentous 50th Anniversary who came from all over the country to compete neck in neck for gold.
The group of entries from the Krugersdorp Karate Club ranged from eight years to 55 years of age.
Krugersdorp Karate Club is proud to announce that they brought 16 medals back home from the National Championships.
They boast with a total of five gold, four silver and seven bronze medals.
Students from all ages train on a weekly basis at the Karate Club that is situated at the Krugersdorp West Bowling Club in Moorecroft Street in Krugersdorp.
“I am extremely proud of the high standard that his students delivered on the day. Hard work and dedication does pay off,” says Sensei Leon van Niekerk.
