Karate club wins 21 medals
Ten gold, seven silver and four bronze medals was won at the Stallion All Style Tournament.
The Krugersdorp Karate Club participated in the Stallion All Style Tournament in Pretoria on 3 August.
They went big and karatekas from the age group of eight to 53 years brought back ten gold, seven silver and four bronze medals.
Peter Claasens, the oldest participant, managed to win both his divisions and obtained double gold, which makes him the grand champion.
Sensei Leon van Niekerk is preparing his students for the Japan Karate Association of South Africa (SA JKA) team event that takes place in October at the 5 000-seater Standard Bank Arena in Johannesburg.
He is sure that his team will do exceptionally well.
“The students are very dedicated and they are looking forward to this prestige event,” says Leon.
