Khosa hockey achievers awarded
A neon-themed awards evening was held to thank the players.
The Caxton Khosa Hockey season drew to a successful close when they rewarded their players at a most enjoyable function at the Khosa Sports Club.
Players, coaches and everyone who had a hand in ensuring the club’s success attended the neon-themed event.
The following awards were made at the event:
• The Colin Campbell trophy was awarded to Casey Cogil for the most improved schoolboy.
• The Pikkies trophy was awarded to Kaylee Howard for the most improved schoolgirl.
• Mitch Wainwright was rewarded the Peter Kewney trophy for the most improved junior male player who has played at the club for about two years.
• Taryn Jones was awarded the Gill Kewney trophy for the most improved junior woman player who has played at the club only for about two years.
• The Jan Serfontein trophy went to Robert Grimsley for the most improved senior male.
• The Craise Lyle trophy for the most improved senior woman went to Natasja Meintjies.
• Caitlyn van der Walt received the Robertson Dauncy trophy for umpire of the season.
• The Spoon men and ladies trophies for the stirrer on or off the field was awarded to Paul Launspach and Geraldine Harwood respectively for always complaining about anything concerning the club – off and on the field.
• Robert Stone received the Toiletseat Men trophy for being the biggest turd on the field as he is always complaining and receiving cards.
• The Jimmy Shaw trophy for the sportsman and woman who never complain on the field and play the game in a true sporting way is shared by Noelle Bester and Gavin Bekker.
• Graeme Norton, the outgoing chairman of the hockey club was awarded the Chippie Eloff trophy for always being at functions and doing his bit for the club.
• The third side ladies team received The Rock trophy for being the most spirited side that is always at the functions.
• Yolandi Reyneke received the Carol Viljoen trophy for what she has done for the ladies while Keith Dauncey, Khosa main club chairman received the Niel Carter trophy for being the person who has done the most for the club.
• Rudi Engelbrecht was awarded the Danny van Rensburg trophy, a chairperson’s award handed over by the chairperson.
