The ‘Thriller’ makes Krugersdorp proud

Local lightweight boxer Morné Bothma once again proved that the best in boxing talent comes from Krugersdorp after beating Deon Mbumbana in a tournament hosted by Brown Bomber Promotions at Nasrec on 29 September.

Bothma only needed four rounds to prove that he was the best fighter and left the ring victoriously after winning by a unanimous decision.

Morné The Thriller Bothma as he is known in boxing circles knocked his opponent down at the beginning of the fight and stepped into his corner with triumph as the bell announced the end of the first round.

“The next three rounds came easy; I knew I had the upper hand from the first punch,” says Bothma.

As the referee lifted his hand in victory, Bothma’s motto tattooed on his arm “The difference between life and boxing, is that life has its limits,” confirmed his excellent performance.

As one of the biggest attractions at the seven-bout tournament featuring three national titles in the welterweight, junior middle and ladies welterweight divisions, Bothma did Krugersdorp and fans from across the country proud.

The tournament, affectionately called The Testament, was a first of its kind in South African boxing.
