Gymnasts compete at international level

Two gymnasts from Krugersdorp will be competing at an international gymnastics competition in Novi Sad, Serbia in December.

Following a series of trial events, the South African Gymnastics Federation has announced their teams for the following six months of international competitions.

Two 11-year-old Krugersdorp boys, Riccardo Colandrea and Ruan Lange are currently in Novi Sad, Serbia to represent their country for the first time in the gymnastics team from 6 to 8 December.

Riccardo and Ruan, who train at Visions Gymnastics Club, competed in a trial event on the 23 and 24 September in Pretoria where they qualified in first and second place respectively and claimed their place in the team.

Three other gymnasts and two coaches will join them to Serbia.

“We are very proud of our gymnasts and their super coaches who represent our club so well,” says head coach Derick Scholtz.

Adele Heine, the owner of the club and a coach says that she is also happy that their young group is getting the opportunity to gain international experience.

“We look forward to excellent results and wish these gymnasts all the best in their preparations.”
