Correctional Services officials excell at sports

When the officials of the Krugersdorp Correctional Services have time to play sport, they also excell in it.

Members of the Krugersdorp Correctional Services have a lot of fun when time allows them to by playing a sport they love, which in turn also keeps them fit.

Mary Ann Scheepers and Wouter van der Merwe are active and loyal members of the Noordheuwel Bowling Club.

Recently these two officials participated in the Correctional Services Regional Trials that were held at Leeuwkop Correctional Centre in October.

Both these officials were chosen to represent the Gauteng Region in the National Championship held at Pollsmoor Correctional Centre in Cape Town.

Mary Ann was the only female chosen from the Gauteng Region to form part of the national team that will participate in the World Police and Fire Games in America in 2015.

Charlotte Mtsotshe represented the Krugerdorp Correctional Centre during the Regional Aerobics marathon at Zonderwater Correctional Centre. She was chosen to represent the Gauteng Region in the National Championships at Durban Westville Correctional Centre, as well as for the national team.

Members of the Krugersdorp Pistol Club participated in two Provincial Championships, Departmental Championships and Free State Championships and have had great success.

Two members of the club each received four medals during the Departmental Championship and the founder of the club, James Margraaff finished in the top 20 and was rated in the 11th place nationally.

The Krugersdorp Pistol Club established in 2011 has 44 members and is the biggest Pistol Club nationally in the Correctional Services.
