Annual night road race a success

Libonto Tootse from the Khosa Road Runners missed the first place by a mere two seconds.

Over 1 000 runners participated in the male and female categories of the 2014 McCarthy Volkswagen Constantia Kloof 15 km Nite Race in Krugersdorp on Wednesday 5 February.

The race, which was held in conjunction with the Khosa Road Runners, can be described as successful judged by the positive feedback from the public and the fact that the number of participants grows every year.

Shaun Ulyate, chairman of the Khosa Road Runners says that their club is proud to have hosted this annual race.

“We would like to thank the local businesses that manned water tables on our routes for their continued support.”

Various water tables were manned by Earl Grey Properties, VHF Sport and Sports Nerds, and the atmosphere created by these businesses added to the vibe on the evening.

The members of Khosa Road Runners undertook the marshalling aspect of the race and they, with the assistance of the Mogale City Traffic Department, ensured a safe evening for all participants.

Shaun says to end the extremely successful evening one of their own runners, Libonto Tootse, was pipped for second place by a mere two seconds.

He invites anyone interested in joining their running section to contact him via email on srulyate@mweb.co.za.
