Do you feel the need for some speed?

With all sorts of additional entertainment for the crowds and spectators on the day, those attending can be prepared to be blown away.

It’s the start of the 2014 SA National Drag Racing season and Tarlton International Raceway is ready to kick off the year with a bang.

From the guys that brought you the Fast Fest, a Speed Spectacular in 2013, comes a brand new adventure, Fast Fest 2014, Word of Wheels Motorshow and Drag Spectacular.

The day will see the start of the racing season as Round 1 of the 2014 South African National Drag Racing Championship spins off where most of SA’s quickest and fastest vehicles will participate at this premier facility.

With all sorts of additional entertainment for the crowds and spectators on the day, those attending can be prepared to be blown away by Tarlton’s 400 km/h J34 Westinghouse Jet Dragster, as Nico van Rensburg do some exhibition runs. FMX Riders will entertain everyone with a crazy aerobatic show, Team Indy Oil will do some Superbike Stunts, and the Rockford Fosgate Car Sound Competition will cater for all the car sound freaks out there along with “Nitro Crew” as well as a Show and Shine.

SA superstar DJ, Vin Deysel from 94.7 Highveld Stereo along with Nac Attack Rapper and many more will be live on stage followed by a Bikini Fashion Show later the day. This is an event not to be missed.

On the drag racing front, in a sport where winning and losing is calculated within a thousandth of a second, topping the ladder are the methanol titans of the Top Eliminator category led by Nico van Rensburg (Lethal Weapon – T/A Funny car), Dalmain Hattingh (A-Dragster) and Deon Swepoel (A-Dragster) however, also wrangling for a spot on the podium will be Werner Conradie (T/A-Funny car). These six to seven second 300 km/h drag beasts are always a good crowd pleaser.

Joining in the Exhibition fun will be Marius Coetzee in the Leyland Matador, 12 litre Twin Turbo V8 Drag Truck along with Shaun Watson in the Turbocharged Ford Cargo V8 Drag Truck

Tickets are on sale at Tarlton’s main gate on the day at R120 per adult and R50 for children between the ages of six to 12.

There are also VIP tickets available at Computicket, which will include a six-pack and access to the VIP lounge area that overlooks the sound stage and the drag strip.

Tarlton offers loads of free parking, and take-away food and refreshments that will be available from various food outlets at the venue. The main gate opens at 7am and racing is set to start at around 8am.
