Krugersdorp boxing hero competes for millions
Ryno Libeneberg, known as the boxer who refuses to lose, makes Krugersdorp proud as he competes with some of the biggest names in boxing in a tournament offering millions.
Krugersdorp boxing sensation Ryno Liebenberg will form part of an outstanding mix of world-class fighters, competing for R5 million in the upcoming Super 6 Clash for Cash tournament at Emperors Palace.
The winner of this light-heavyweight tournament to take place on three dates – one each in August, September and November – will be rewarded winner with an accumulated purse of R1,6 million.
Other participants are undefeated former world champion Tommy Oosthuizen, Roberto Bolonti, Johnny Muller, Denis Grachev and Wilbeforce Shihepo.
Oosthuizen will open against Shihepo, Liebenberg will fight Grachev and Belonti will meet Muller, guaranteeing three enthralling bouts in the opening round on 9 August.
Semi-finalists for the event in September will be the three winners plus the “best” loser.
First-round boxers each will earn R250 000, second-round boxers each will earn R350 000 and the overall winner will receive R1 million on the night with R500 000 to the runner-up.
“This is as exciting as it gets,” says Golden Gloves’ Rodney Berman.
“I’ve tried to ensure a good mix of Pan-African fighters plus world class internationals,” he says.
