Local equestrians ride their way to regionals

Krugersdorp High's horse riders kick dust in the eyes of their competitors.

Five of  Krugersdorp High School’s equestrian girls qualified to take part in the South African National Equestrian School Association’s (Sanesa) regionals next month. There they will compete against four other regions in the province.

To qualify, riders had to accumulate enough points in the dressage and show jumping divisions, among other.

The school’s equestrians kick dust in the eyes of riders from across the country in various divisions each year.

This year the team once again won the parade division, a win they have secured for many years in a row.

Tracey Beukes, Chef de quart for the team ascribes this to the trouble the girls take with their appearance and adds that their pink uniforms also tend to steal the show.

Krugersdorp High also boasts with Tamryn Thaorpe, a rider of a different kind who is making waves in an up and coming division for Western Riders.

The riders who have qualified to take part in the regionals at Misty Meadows Equestrian Club on 9 and 10 August are:

• Nicole Atkinson

• Daniella Bedeaux

• Savannah Taschner

• Charlotte McKenna‘hole

• Michelle Barker
