Monnas player shines at Craven Week

What won him this accolade was his two-try blitz in three minutes.

Monument High School rugby talent Len Massyn recently made Krugersdorp proud for being selected for the U/18 Lions Craven week squad but added to the pride when he was selected for a special title during the tournament.

Massyn was awarded the title of Coca-Cola Hero of the Day for day five of the U/18 Coca-Cola Craven Week for his performance in a match against the Pumas.

The Golden Lions finally found some form on day five after losing two matches and according to rugby critics some of the form can be attributed to a fantastic match by Massyn.

Massyn scored three tries for the Lions but what won him this accolade was his two-try blitz in three minutes that ended up being the difference between the two teams.

The Lions had led 17-0 at one stage, dominating territory and possession but a laps in concentration and some brilliant play from the Mpumalanga Pumas kept the score respectable at 17-10.

Massyn’s two tries came in the second half from a solo break of about 40 metres in the 46th minute and then rolling maul in the 49th minute.
