Former Monument player gets Bulls jersey
Former Mounument Highl pupil Burger Odendaal gets to wear Blue Bulls jersey.
In the past Krugersdorp has delivered some of the best in South African rugby and this Currie Cup season is no different as a another local boy made the cut – this time to play for the Vodacom Blue Bulls.
Bulls coach Frans Ludeke announced recently that he had named former Monument High pupil Burger Odendaal as inside centre for his side’s opening match of the 2014 Absa Currie Cup season against the Xerox Golden Lions.
The 21-year-old has made Krugersdorp proud before when he represented the Golden Lions at the Coca-Cola Under 18 Craven Week in 2011.
He also played for the Vodacom Blue Bulls at Under 19, Under21 and Vodacom Cup level since 2012.
Ludeke says in a statement that he believes in Odendaal’s ability and sharp skills, and has confidence in his team to win the Currie Cup.
“We want to win the Currie Cup this year. It is as simple as that. We believe in ourselves and in each other, but the challenge for us will be to go out there and be competitive and consistent in our performances,” he says.
