Air gun enthusiasts take a shot at winning

Local air gun club The Nomads hosted a successful 50 target Provincial and National League shooting tournament.

Registered shooters arrived in large numbers to compete mainly in the field target discipline at the Nomads shooting range on the R28 next to Cedar Lodge.

Non-registered Nomads members also took a shot at winning and took part in the Sporter Field Target class.

“There was just enough variable wind on the day to make shooting interesting,” says Nomads chairman Adrian Smuts.

Field Target is an outdoor air gun discipline that has become quite popular in Krugersdorp recently.

Air gun tournaments commonly involve shooting at stationary targets from various distances.

Targets are positioned at any distance between eight and 50 meters from the firing line, often at about the same height as the shooter.

Points are scored with one for a hit (resulting in the face plate falling) and zero for a miss.
