Good luck to local Comrades runners!
A fun run was held to wish the Khosa Sports Club runners well with the Comrades Marathon.
All together 35 runners from the Khosa Sports Running Club will be running in the world’s oldest and largest ultra-marathon of about 90km this Sunday, 31 May.
And as a final ‘good luck send off’ the runners, four who will be doing the Comrades for the first time, as well as over 30 other casual runners ran a Family-fun route of about 8km through the streets of Krugersdorp.
Shaun Ulyate, chairman of the running club who boasts with 115 members said everyone is a bit nervous about the race but he is certain that the runners will do well.
“They have been training since December from 5am in the mornings where they ran distances between 10km and 50km.”
Shaun said the club, which is celebrating its almost 30 years of existence, is a family run club as part of the Khosa Sports Club.
“Everyone, young and old, is welcome to join the good spirit of the club.”
After the runners completed the run they were served with refreshments before hoodies were handed out to the runners taking part in the Comrades.
