Morning classes for runners, walkers announced

The Run/Walk for Life club will now add a morning class to their schedule.

The Krugersdorp Branch of Run/Walk For Life will start holding morning sessions from 1 March between 6.30am and 8am.

The Run/Walk For Life programme, about 30-years-old, looks at ways of reducing the death rate by monitoring exercise patterns suitable for different individuals.

The members come together three times a week, looking for a bit of fresh air. The workouts last about an hour and start with dynamic stretching and warm-up sessions, followed by timed running or walking laps.

“Sometimes we take on the streets and walk or run for up to 10 kilometres outside the club,” Ronald Eykenduyn, the Run/Walk For Life Krugersdorp branch manager said.

The Run/Walk For Life programme focuses on members’ abilities and makes sure the exercise is within their limits.

A special launch event will be held on 24 February at the Khosa Sports Club on the corner of Shannon Road and Frederick Cooper Drive starting at 6.30am.

“Anyone interested in joining Run/Walk for Life Krugersdorp AM group is welcome to attend. The event will continue until after 8am to allow those wishing to join the later class to also come by and get information,” he concluded.

If you would like to join the club or need more information, contact Ronald on 083 482 4289.
