Rods fly for fishing title

In true competition style, only one man and one woman could emerge as winners.

It was another great Winter Fly-fishing Competition and Open Day at Kloofzicht Lodge on Sunday, 17 July.

Sundowner Adventures, in conjunction with Kloofzicht, hosted its annual fly-fishing competition with about 50 men and women from all walks of life searching for fresh-water gold.

Fly-fishing at Kloofzicht takes place under the expert guidance of Wayne Sinclair, the founding member of Sundowner Adventures, who has over 25 years of sport- and fly-fishing experience in Southern Africa.

Trout, bass, carp and the ever-elusive yellow fish provided anglers with hours of entertainment and the opportunity to unwind and relax.

But in true competition style, only one man and one woman could emerge as winners.

Hannes du Toit won the men’s category for the most fish caught, while Natasja Bean took the title for the women. In the junior category, Michael Krenzceck had the honour of being announced a winner.

The overall winner on the day was Dylan Krenzceck, who caught the most trout (15) of the day.

Mr South Africa 2013, John Owens, and Lions’ rugby player, Robbie Coetzee, braved the cold to catch a few slippery critters.
