Couple dominates river race
They finished as the 16th mixed double, in a time of one hour, 25 minutes and as the second Sub Grand Master age group finishers.
It was a glorious spring morning when Canoe Concepts hosted the annual Mixed Doubles Championships Race.
The race kicked off at The Makery in Henley on Klip and continued for a distance of some 20km to the Danie Maclean Park in Meyerton.
Minnie Kretzschmar partnered with Krugersdorper Dennis Carlse to enjoy the opportunity to train on the river. They finished as the 16th mixed double, in a time of one hour, 25 minutes and as the second Sub Grand Master age group finishers.
Gauteng Canoe Union’s annual prize giving recognises the Doubles and Single Kayak champions annually, as well as the Mixed Doubles (male/ female combination) in a race specifically dedicated to those teams.
Dabulamanzi Canoe Club featured well in the competition, with Robert Crichton and Holly Spencer taking the second position, in a time of one hour 9 seconds, while the team from Wemmer Pan clinched the first podium position by five seconds.
