Captain Charisma makes a come-back

Thato 'Captain Charisma' Bonokoane made a big come-back when he knocked out his opponent in the first round of a scheduled six-round match.

Thato Bonokoane won the junior featherweight title at the Box and Dine annual fight, when he beat Lemohang Mapitsi with a knock-out blow during the first round at Krugersdorp’s Centenary Hall on Saturday, 26 November.

The seven-match event, presented by Team Dida Boxing Promotions, was well attended.

“Thato won during the first round by a knock-out but the referee stopped the fight to save Mapitsi from the punishment of a six-round scheduled bout,” said Dida Dipheko, Thato’s trainer.

In the boxing ring, Thato goes by the name of Captain Charisma, and he is fast becoming a force to be reckoned with. He holds a record of seven fights with two draws and only one loss.

“I am happy about Thato’s achievement because it shows that he is willing to work hard. I hope next year we will be talking about his World Boxing Federation or South African titles,” said Dida.

“Excellent upcoming boxers always thank the Lord for protection. I am over the moon and delighted to have achieved this, mainly because I went into this fight as the underdog but came out the happiest person ever, all thanks to God and my trainer,” Captain Charisma told the News.
