Krugersdorp Road Running Club’s shot at winning the Comrades

Local runners are off to take part in one of the biggest races in the world.

The 2017 Comrades Marathon will start outside the Durban City Hall on Sunday, 4 June and the Krugersdorp Road Running Club has entered 49 of its top runners into the event.

The marathon, which is expected to last about 12 hours, will end at Scottsville Racecourse in Pietermaritzburg. Of the 49 runners, nine will be running for the first time.

Derick Oliver, an athlete, with Johan van Graan, chairperson of the Krugersdorp Road Running Club at an pre-marathon event earlier this month.

One runner will be doing his 30th Comrades, while Derick Olivier will run his 34th.
