Upcoming soccer tournament to educate youth
This tournament will not only showcase talents, but will also educate the youth.
Usually, the Tarlton Police host an annual youth tournament in an effort to keep youngsters off the streets and on the soccer field, and educate them about crime and substance abuse.
This year, it’s the community’s chance to organise and host this annual event with a message they would like to get across to youngsters.
Their aim this year is to not only raise awareness of, and educate the community about kidnapping and women and child abuse, but also to get youngsters to stay away from drugs, alcohol and any other dangerous substance.
“This will be a very effective way to not only keep them off the streets, but also to showcase their talents,” Goodman Mkhize, one of the organisers said.
The tournament will take place from Youth Day (Friday, 16 June) until Sunday, 18 June, at the Matshelapad informal settlement.
