High ranking athletic championships moved to Kagiso
The West Rand has always been the ideal place for events of this nature because most of them are usually held in Johannesburg and Ekuruleni.
Boksburg Stadium will not be able to host the Central Gauteng Athletics Cross Country Competition on Saturday, 12 August.
Luckily, the West Rand has a fantastic alternative – the Kagiso Sports Complex. The competition has thus been moved to this venue and the excitement around it is already building.

Steven Khanyile, chairperson of the CGA Cross Country Commission, said the West Rand has always been an ideal place for events of this nature as most of them are held in Johannesburg and Ekurhuleni.
”It is not the first time the championships are being hosted on the West Rand,” said Steven.
“Westonaria Sports Complex has hosted it for some time, but after some deliberation it was decided that Kagiso deserves the honour of hosting it this year.”
Dithapelo Tumane, chairperson of Kagiso Striders Athletics Club and deputy chairperson of the CGA Cross Country Commission said as the host and Local Organising Committee (LOC), they are ready to host the championships.
“The event will pave way for the forthcoming South African Championships,” said Dithapelo. “Kagsio Striders are delighted and ready to be hosts. In terms of the technical setup, we are going to change the competition’s course and use the one we used during the Athletics South Africa Trials in 2014.”
Veterans Solly Modise and Sello Moiloa are the trumpcards and ace runners for the hosts in the 40- to 49-year-old veterans’ section. The duo has done well in the past, with Solly consistently placing in the top three.
