Mogale to host prestigious Gauteng Sports Awards

The West Rand – home of sporting stars.

Rand West City Local Muncipality (RWCLM) hosted the ceremony to unveil the finalists in various sporting codes at the Greenhills Stadium earlier this year.

Nontombi Molatlhegi, MMC for Sport Art and Culture of RWCLM indicated that this event could not have come at a better time.

“Let us as a nation support those who want to reach for the stars,” said Nontombi, who described the West Rand as the home of sporting stars. Charmaine Nzwane, her Mogale City colleague, added that it will be a pleasure for Mogale to once again to have the privilege of hosting such a prestigious event .

“As Mogale City we are proud to have hosted the awards ceremony for the past few years and we are once again looking forward to it,” she said.

Mzi Khumalo, Executive Mayor for RWCLM added that top athletes and sports stars have a responsibility to be role models and ambassadors for the West Rand. “Events like this will help youth to participate in sports and have a desire to represent our country at events like the Olympics. The success of athletes should be attributed to families and administrators,” said Mzi.

Faith Mazibuko, MEC for the Gauteng Department of Sports, Art, Culture and Recreation, described Gauteng as a home of excellence.
