Road Runners receive almost 2 000 entries for Cradle race

The day began with warm weather and hundreds of runners lined up at the start.

The Krugersdorp Road Runners hosted their annual Cradle of Humankind Road Race on Friday, 27 April at Makiti Wedding Venue in Sterkfontein.

With almost 2 000 runners entered, the day showed great promise.

The road race comprised four categories of 5km, 10km, 21,1km and 32km respectively.

The day began with warm weather and hundreds of runners lined up at the starting point with the open road ahead of them. At sunrise, the 21,1km runners started their race through the majestic Cradle. The first to cross the finish line was Kabelo Melamo. Right behind him were Itumeleng Phala and Phillip Phakwago.

In the 32km race, it was Thsepo Mokousi who finished first and Peter Mokhubedu and Handsome Suwela came second and third respectively.

The Top 3 in the 10km race were Ofentse Mokotelakwena, Amogelang Madito and Segopolo Masoko.

Makomo Batji, Lelani Roodt and Elizabeth Dlhiqayo came first, second and third in the 5km race.
