Karatekas give their all in championships

According to Sensei Gi-Gi Albarran, the four students who were entered into the competition brought back a total of seven medals.

The Krugersdorp Goju Rye Karate Academy recently held the town’s name high when they participated in the South African International Shorei Martial Arts Academy (ISMAA) Goju Rye Karate Championship.

According to Sensei Gi-Gi Albarran, the four students who were entered into the competition brought back a total of seven medals within their respective age and belt divisions.

This is what the students achieved:

• Thomas Boshoff – gold in both kata and kumite

• Duray Hyman – gold in kata

• Giovanni Cox – gold in kata and bronze in kumite

• Azalea Hood – gold in kata and silver in kumite
