Major golf day as West Rand businesses supports charity cause

All proceeds raised will be donated to the Dempsey Foundation as well as other local charities.

Earlier in June, business owners and representatives from all over the West Rand put on their golf shoes in support of a great cause.

The teams at Steel Pipes West Rand and Home & Lifestyle Guide recently joined forces in their first-ever Annual Charity Golf Day which was held at the Krugersdorp Golf Course.

According to organisers Corrie Vrey from Steel Pipes and Johnny van Eden from Home & Lifestyle, all proceeds raised were to be donated to the Dempsey Foundation as well as other local charities.

The Dempsey Foundation aims to support and better the lives of individuals and families impacted by cancer.

The two companies were thrilled to have had a total of 22 four-balls (88 golfers) support the project on the day. Corrie went on to say that after participating in 18 holes of golf, supporters were presented with a delectable three-course meal as well as live entertainment by local artist SannaQ and the well-known local band, Dagdroom.

Former Lions and Cheetahs Rugby Player, Alwyn Hollenbach, served as Master of Ceremonies, and kept the audience engaged. At the end of the day, prizes to the value of R50 000 were given away during the well-deserved awards ceremony.
