Three hockey stars on the rise

All three hockey players were chosen for South African teams and all three hail from Monument Primary.

Krugersdorp had some great sporting achievements during the recent school holidays, specifically with regard to hockey.

Three Monument Primary alumni were chosen for South African hockey teams. Ryan Mann was chosen for the U/17 team, while Ross Breytenbach and Cameron Le Forestier were selected for the U/16 SA team.

Their coach, Wade Botha, has put his own career as hockey player on hold to focus on developing West Rand Hockey players.

He coached these boys at Monument Primary, a school that doesn’t even have a hockey astro.

Despite the lack of optimal playing surfaces, the learners are being moulded by a great coach who also serves as their mentor.

Wade’s devotion as coach instills his huge passion for hockey into each and every learner that he teaches.

Just recently, Wade started playing hockey again and true to his passion, he was selected for the South African Country District’s team.
