Ryno ‘The Lion’ to take on Alfonso Tissen

This tournament has grabbed the attention of international viewers too.

Despite being friends out of the ring, Alfonso Tissen of Kensington and Ryno The Lion Liebenberg of Krugersdorp won’t be showing each other any mercy when they battle it out for the ABU Super Middleweight title at the Call for Glory Box and Dine Tournament at Emperors Palace on Saturday, 1 September.

This was the clear message from both boxers when they faced the media and each other at a pre-fight press conference at the Palace of Dreams on Tuesday afternoon, 28 August.

Saturday evening’s tournament not only grabbed the imagination of local boxing fans as it’s a sold out affair – promoter Rodney Berman announced at the press conference that it has grabbed attention internationally too and would also be televised overseas. The News will publish a follow up report on this exciting sporting event.
