Medals galore for KJK’s judokas
They made their schools – and club – proud
A number of judokas from the KJK Judo Club participated in the recent South African Schools Judo Tournament, and did extremely well.
The tournament took place over two days with the judokas competing in two categories – Novice (judokas who have not competed in National tournaments) and Advanced (experienced judokas who have done National Championships before.
The judokas represented their respective schools, and not only kept the schools’ name high, but their club’s name as well. Sensei Kaja Bruwer, the Club coach, said, “Congratulations to our judokas who performed so well at the tournament. You all worked hard and I saw some beautiful techniques, made me very proud!”
She added that the judokas that train at Laerskool Kenmare did extremely well. “The students train at the school every Thursday afternoon, but also attend many additional classes on other days. The results they achieved are definitely the reward for their hard work,” she said.
Four judokas competed in the Novice tournament and achieved the following results:
• Juvan Abrie (gold medal)
• Erich Pretorius (gold medal)
• Rynard Hall (gold medal)
• Hanco Breet (bronze medal)
There were also four judokas competing in the Advanced tournament, and they achieved the following results:
• Nico Pieterse (gold medal)
• Hendrik Alberts (gold medal)
• Christiaan Theron (bronze medal)
