ESS Krugersdorp celebrates a successful year

Every team at the club picked up a trophy this season

Local soccer can look forward to a bright future if the current state of development clubs maintain their standards. Keeping the bar set high is Euro Soccer Schools (ESS) Roodepoort, which held its end of season prize-giving at Alma Mater International School on 7 December.

In just the second season of their existence, Euro Soccer Schools (ESS) Roodepoort’s growth in numbers has only been surpassed by its success on the field. Every team registered at the club won at least one league, cup or tournament trophy and they will be sending 21 players to England to compete in The London Cup in July next year.

Owner Junior Mwale said, “I think the season went really well; in fact it was the best season since ESS was introduced”. One age group that enjoyed an exceptional season was the club’s U/15s. “They picked up five trophies this season and won every competition they entered, which is no easy feat,” said Junior.

Junior also happens to coach the U/15s and praised his players saying, “I was not surprised, the boys are extremely talented and well-disciplined. It is such an honour to coach such an amazing group of young players.”

ESS is collecting trophies with regular ease and by giving young players opportunities to show off their talent overseas, it is proving to be a healthy avenue for player progression.
