Strapping in for a year of running

The Khosa Road Runners recently took their first registrations, and kicked off the year with an easy run to shake off the festive-season fatigue.

The Khosa Road Runners geared up, fastened their laces and took on the tar again early this year.

Registrations started on 8 January at about 5 pm, with their very first trial run starting only one hour later. The veterans of the club, some of whom have been Khosa members for four or more years, took is rather easy on the road alongside quite a few new faces, just to help shake off the festive-season fatigue.

Kevin Duddy takes on the first Khosa run of the year.

Khosa offers a run/ walk, running and a serious running group, making it easily accessible to all runners, no matter their fitness level or experience. Experienced runners are always happy to lend a helping hand. Time trials are done every Wednesday at 6 pm and include a 2km, 4km and 8km run. The walking group they recently introduced is most likely to attract many social runners who are just starting out.

“In the summer months, we host club runs every Saturday and Sunday morning at 6 am, and as we progress into winter, the runs usually start a little later during those few months,” noted club chair, Stella Parker.

William Hulme is an experienced runner at the club.

The next big event will be held at the Khosa Club in Monument on 10 May. The Mother’s Day themed run will include a 5km and a 15km run.
