Highest caliber karate in our backyard
Soon three of the Morgan Moss Karate Club members will be travelling to Morocco to compete in the African Championships.
The Morgan Moss Karate Club, which is registered with the International Olympic Committee, has sent many of its students to numerous countries over the years to compete at the highest level. Few karate clubs on the West Rand can compete on this level of intense tournament fighting.
Morgan Moss and two of his students, Tyrone Gray, 23, and Dino Belfi, 15, will soon be travelling to Tangier in Morocco to compete in the African Championships, which will be the final African qualifier before the international qualifier in Paris, France in May.

The three men have been giving it their all over the past few years, travelling to Italy, Turkey, Dubai, Botswana, France and Cyprus to take on the behemoths of world karate, proving their merit in the process. As soon as they have finished there, Morgan and Tyrone will be off to the World Premier League in Dubai which is open only to the top 100 fighters in the world. The two of them walked away with bronze medals after the 2019 championships in Botswana.
Currently, the club has an impressive 11 world-ranked competitors in the Karate South Africa League.
Participation in all these international fights are funded by the club and the families of its members. So far, the club has been doing well enough to send many of its members to compete in these prestigious leagues, but they’re growing faster than expected. Many members find it difficult to raise the necessary funds to follow their dreams.

“I’m saying this now,” Morgan said. “Hayley Bothma can be the next Olympic champion, but she can’t compete because she’s not funded.”
Hayley is only 15 years old, but is “already probably the best fighter you’ll ever see”.
For this very reason, Morgan is starting up the Morgan Moss Karate International Foundation to aid students from all walks of life by getting sponsors and funding their life goals.
