Fit, fab and ready for the Millennium Gold Plate

Although fitness has always been part of Irina's life, she decided to make it her profession when she moved here from the Ukraine 10 years ago.

Irina du Toit, a personal trainer and physique athlete from Noordheuwel, grew up in the Ukraine. She said being fit and healthy have always been a part of her life. When she moved to South Africa with her husband 10 years ago, she made it her profession.

For the past eight years, the 37-year-old has been competing in physique and bodybuilding competitions, and now she is gearing up to take part in the 2020 International Federation of Bodybuilding and Fitness Millennium Gold Plate in Kempton Park at the beginning of April.

She will be competing in the Fitness Bikini over 35 division.

The number of titles that adorns Irina’s dining room is proof that she is not a novice when it comes to these competitions and that she takes them very seriously. She explained that two of the titles stand out for her – the 2018 Millennium Gold Plate where she took first place, and the Summer Bodies Competition that took place in December last year, where she also walked away the winner.

She also does more moderate weight training to prepare, while the rest of her fitness routine gets a bit more intense.

When asked if she was working towards her pro card, she explained that getting her pro card is a long-term goal for her but something she is striving towards. However, it will still be a few more years before she gets it.

When she is not training she remains active. She is a personal trainer who has her own company called Pretty Fit. She only trains women, because she feels that she can relate to them. “I understand when they have had a tough day and need to relieve some stress,” she laughed.

She also keeps herself and her family busy outdoors.

What about a cheat meal for this fitness queen? Irina said that although sushi is her cheat meal of choice, she just can’t say no to something sweet.
