First win for Travis in newly homed Berge & Dale race
The 21ste Berge & Dale race took place at a new venue this year.
The Takealot Berge & Dale Cycle Challenge hosted their 21st edition earlier this year, this time at a new venue.
The starting point was at Laerskool Protearif and ASG Events’ chief executive officer, Erick Oosthuizen explained the reason for the change.
“The race has always been a hilly affair that normally ascended the famous Krugerdorp Hill. Due to traffic volumes picking up over the last couple of years though, organisers and traffic authorities made the decision to move the West Rand event further west to its new home at Protearif,” he said.
There were two distances available for the riders, a 109km and a 60km race. The 109km rideers went over the Hekpoort pass and uphill to Protearif where it finished.
Travis Barret from Office Guru won not only this race, but also this year’s Cape Town Cycle Tour. In second place was Flavio Venceslay and third place went to Orion Cauque.
