Heiko’s representatives, In Touch Sports, confirmed the signing on their social media platforms recently. “Congrats to Heiko Pohlmann on his official move to the @LionsRugbyCo. We wish you all the best going forward on your new journey!” their post reads.

He is described as being a powerful and fast prop who appeared for the Golden Lions XV in last year’s Craven Week. He also attended SA Rugby’s Elite Player Development camp for Under 17s in Wellington last year.

It is considered a major accomplishment to be signed during this difficult time in the country, since so many clubs and unions are battling to stay afloat. This also proves Heiko’s potential and that clubs are taking notice.

The News reached out to Heiko for comment about this momentous achievement, but he has yet to respond to our request. “Congratulations Heiko! You make your school and community very proud,” said editor of the News, Janine Viljoen.
