Outdoor fitness class to fight lockdown blues

Fitness is on everyone’s lips at the moment. Active Explosive hosted an adrenaline-fuelled, highly active workout session outdoors to get people out of their homes again and moving.

While many are currently trying to shake off the lockdown blues, others are committed to shedding the extra kilograms they gained over the long stay-at-home-thanks-to-Covid-19 period.

To get the ball rolling, Active Explosive hosted an opening FunctionFit outdoor class at Khosa Sports Club on Saturday morning, 28 August.

The idea was to come as you were, no matter your fitness level, and enjoy a free fitness session with instructors Benita and Wessel Kritzinger as well as Eckard Kok, in the fresh air on an open rugby field. Benita and Wessel started the Active Explosion experience.

Benita explained that they chased down their “… dream and mission to provide a family-friendly fitness environment that offers affordable fitness classes”.

The two believe in a holistic approach to fitness, that is to say, to view various fitness and health concepts as part of a large, cohesive whole rather than separate entities that do not affect one another. With this in mind, the instructors held a lively exercise session with existing members and newcomers to the fitness world alike.

An hour in, bodies were limbered up well, there was very little time for rest, and the visible perspiration indicated that the group was having an exceptionally productive workout.

Active Explosion’s main focus lies in effectively motivating their members, while running them through a fun but fairly tough set of exercises to get fit, lose weight and get healthy again just as spring rolls in.
