Have fun and enjoy the Monster – organisers
Whether signing up for the long or short route or fun run, all entrants can look forward to experiencing the best trails on offer in the Magaliesberg at the eighth annual Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run.
Taking place at the ATKV Buffelspoort on Sunday, 6 June the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run will highlight the beauty of the Magaliesberg as part of its eighth year celebration!
Consisting of a long route (+-24km), short route (+-12km), fun run (+-8km) and a Kids Event (2.5km), the Magaliesberg’s trails will be placed on a pedestal with trail runners of all ages enjoying the best routes on offer at the Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run. The long route, short route and fun-run routes feature a good mixture of farm jeep tracks, gravel roads, bushveld single track, soft sand sections, untouched Magaliesberg mountain trails and indigenous bushveld. The first 4km are fast and will take runners through citrus orchards with the descent going into a beautiful indigenous valley.

“The long route features rocky terrain, steep climbs and is sure to be a test for all trail runners,” said Michael Meyer, Managing Director of Stillwater Sports and founder of the event.
“Once at the top of the climbs, the views and scenery will make it all worthwhile. Not ideal for newcomers to the sport, the long route is perfect for trail runners that can cover the same distance on a road-running surface or who are building up to bigger and longer events, especially stage races. This route is also great for fit and well-conditioned road runners that would like to give trail running a go. If you aren’t racing for a podium, be sure to stop to enjoy the views.

“Although technical at times, the short route is safe and perfect for runners who are new to trail running or the sport of running in general. This 12km route is designed for the adventurous runner who loves to be outdoors. Any person who can run 10km on the road will have a blast on this route. Be sure to take it slowly through the gully. Once you have crossed the tar section you can run like the wind.
“The fun run is the perfect challenge for the entire family to enjoy together,” continued Michael.

“You do not have to be super fit to complete this route. You can walk the entire way and still love it. The route is not technical and there are two river crossings that are ankle deep and will get your feet wet. Whether signing up for the long route, short route or fun run, all entrants can look forward to experiencing the best trails on offer in the Magaliesberg at the eighth annual Fedhealth Platinum Trail Run.”
