Khosa Cricket Club players change bats for bowls in Randfontein

Khosa cricketers paid Randfontein Bowling Club a visit recently and approximately 130 people came to try their hand at an unfamiliar sport.

It was the perfect day for some competitive lawn bowling and comradery when Khosa Cricket Club paid a visit to Randfontein Bowling Club for a fun day on Saturday, October 2.

Bowling Club committee member Geoff Behrent said over 130 people visited the club on the day to enjoy playing a game unfamiliar to many of them, and savour the great weather (after drenching rain fell the night before) as well as enjoy mouth-watering goodies that were prepared for them on the braai coals by willing bowling club members.

He added that a PA system was in place for the many announcements that had to be made while good music was broadcast over the greens for the rest of the day, keeping everyone happy and some of them even dancing.

“This event proved to be such a good idea and was just so much fun for all of us,” added Neels van Aswegen of Khosa Cricket Club.

Geoff said as an added bonus, the rugby game between the Springboks and All Blacks was shown on their big screen for all to watch.

“With so many cricket club members playing, maybe their club should change its name to the Khosa Bowling Club?” laughed Geoff.
