Kenmare ballet studio bags 22 medals at international syllabus presentation
When Dancers from Dance Inc recently presented their international ballet syllabus they were awarded 22 medals of which two were gold.
When Dance Inc, a ballet studio in Kenmare, presented their international ballet syllabus in September two of their students took home gold.
Over six levels, the studio’s dancers managed to get 22 medals. The two gold medals were awarded to nine-year-old Zoey Botha and 11-year-old Anzelle von Holtzhausen-Collet.
The school teaches an international ballet syllabus from the American Academy of Ballet that was choreographed by a South African, the late Mignon Furman.
Sidwell Roman who judged the syllabus remarked, “It was good-quality dancing. The participants were well-groomed and presented their work well.”
The school’s principal Carla Turner proudly explained that this has brought their school’s medal tally to an impressive 546 over the past 21 years.
“We are so incredibly proud of our dancers. We consider it a real blessing and honour to watch our artists grow, develop and succeed.”
These talented dancers will now focus on a new ballet that they will be performing at the Roodepoort Theatre in March 2022 called ‘Rhapsody in Pink.’
Carla also invited anyone who wants to start dancing to a free trial ballet class with them. Look them up on Facebook for more information.
