A year to remember for Morgan Moss Karate dojo

The Morgan Moss Karate (MMK) dojo, established in 2006, has gone from strength to strength ever since with 2022 being a year to remember.

The year 2022 was an historic one for the Morgan Moss Karate (MMK) dojo.

Established in 2006, the club has only grown from strength to strength having participated in events across several countries which included Croatia, England, Germany, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates. With some of the highlights being the Commonwealth Karate Championships in England as well as the World Championships in Turkey.

Last year, 43 members were selected for the West Rand Regional team; another 41 for the Gauteng Provincial team and 21 for the South African National team.

During the year the club also produced two Commonwealth champions; three continental medallists; nine Africa South champions; 13 national champions; 20 Karate South Africa League champions; 18 Arnold Classic champions; 11 SA Open champions and 22 provincial champions.

The club also added two new members to the prestigious black belt club as issued by Goju-Ryu Seiwakai International.

From a qualification point of view, Sensei Morgan passed both his Africa South and Africa Continental Kata and Kumite coaching license while Sempei Gavin passed his Africa Judges qualification.

But they plan on continuing this streak in 2023 which kicks off with the provincial championship in early February and will culminate with a visit from Hanshi Fujiwara later in the year. Hanshi Fujiwara hails from Japan and is the Chief Instructor of Goju-Ryu Seiwakai International.
