Medals galore for Krugersdorp Bowling Club trio

'I think this was the first time we have had such good results in a men's singles competition' – Krugersdorp Bowling Club president.

Krugersdorp Bowling Club (KBC) is flying the Mogale City flag high after it bagged three medals at the Sables Men’s Singles tournament held at Florida North Bowling Club recently.

According to Krugersdorp Bowling Club spokesperson David Parker, Corrie Tagg won a gold medal while Johan Serfontein and the runner-up bagged the silver medal. Another KBC member, Robbie Piketh took the bronze medal.

A very proud KBC president Trevor Leader was over the moon with his team’s performance.

Robbie also took bronze at the veteran SA Masters held at Western Province Cricket Club while Ken Bishop, another KBC member was runner-up and bagged silver at the Tower Novices tournament in Wanderers.

The good news for KBC, however, does not end there as David confirmed they have been chosen as the official Sables coaching academy.

“This is due to the hard work of the KBC coaching group, organised and ably led by Andy Selby together with Pieter de Beer, Sean Letley, and Joey van Rensburg. They have been doing a great job in coaching new bowlers, club members and seasoned players.”

KBC will also host the forthcoming Gauteng Open Tournament which according to David is considered a huge honour.

This is a feather in the cap for KBC,” said Trevor.

“I am confident that the club will do everything to ensure that all goes well. To all you sport lovers, come to the KBC on weekends during July to watch bowlers play in the biggest bowls tournament in Gauteng and experience the great KBC spirit that makes us the club we are.”
