Krugersdorp’s Brad fails to finish Catalonia GP

The South African and Krugersdorp rider displayed strong pace before a turn 7 incident forced him to retire from the race – now he looks to San Marino for redemption.

In the 15th round of this year’s MotoGP season, Krugersdorp’s Brad Binder was unable to finish the Monster Energy Grand Prix of Catalonia.

According to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, Brad started 11th on the grid and, despite holding a place in the top 10, he lost control at turn 7 on the eighth lap.

“For some reason, I didn’t get off the line well. I was mugged into turn one and then pushed through the field to try and catch up,” Brad explained.

Everything was working brilliantly for him, with the bike being amazing; however, as he went into the seventh turn, he cut back, and Brad believed he touched the white line.

“It was enough to close the front. A bit of a pity because I felt really good. We have to take the positives of the weekend, and I think with a ‘normal’ weekend we can be really strong again,” he explained.

He got a Did Not Finish and is now 11th in the Championship Standings. He will race again at the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera this weekend (September 12 to 14).
