Brad battles grip issues to finish 10th at San Marino MotoGP

Starting from 16th on the grid at the San Marino MotoGP, Brad Binder clawed his way into the top 10 despite severe grip issues and race-day challenges.

During the 16th round of this year’s MotoGP season at the Red Bull Grand Prix of San Marino and the Rimini Riviera, Krugersdorp’s Brad Binder secured a 10th-place finish.

According to the Red Bull KTM Factory Racing team, the six points obtained are vital as Brad started 16th on the grid.

“He powered past his rivals and managed a lack of optimal traction to secure 10th,” the team reported in their weekly newsletter.

They added that it was an extremely tough race for Brad.

“It was hard to push on from the beginning, and there was a big difference between front and rear grip. Then there was a lot of chatter from 12 laps onwards, and it was hard to stay up,” said Brad.

He did not expect such a tricky race, but the team got what they wanted that weekend.

“It’s a good thing that we had a test here so we could play around a little bit to understand the right way to go for the future.”

Brad is currently 11th in the Championship Standings and will compete again at the Motul Grand Prix of Japan over the weekend of September 26.
