KHS hockey boys on fire against Zwartkops
KHS's U16 hockey boys started their Best of the West festival with a big win, while Nories' U16 hockey boys suffered a heavy loss at the hands of the Falcons from Zimbabwe.
The Best of the West Easter Festival kicked off earlier today, April 17, with seven matches played across the astro turfs at Krugersdorp High School (KHS), Hoërskool Noordheuwel (Nories), and Hoërskool Monument (Monnas).

This year’s festival features a strong lineup of rugby and hockey fixtures for both boys and girls, showcasing top talent from local and visiting schools.
Teams such as Jeppe, Garsfontein, and Monnas are all competing for bragging rights, eager to demonstrate their skill and school pride.
Nories opened the festival with a fast-paced and intense U16 boys’ hockey match against Falcons College from Zimbabwe. Despite showing determination and resilience, Nories fell 5–1 as the Falcons proved why they are considered one of Zimbabwe’s top hockey schools.

Meanwhile, KHS also began their campaign with a U16 boys’ match, using their home turf advantage to dominate Hoërskool Zwartkops in a thrilling encounter. KHS secured a convincing 3–0 victory to set the tone for the rest of the tournament.
