Braai Day drags at Tarlton

Topping off the day will be exhibition runs by Nico van Rensburg and Shaun Watson in the famous Tarlton J34 Westinghouse Jet Dragsters.

Race enthusiasts can prepare themselves for an explosive day of action-packed racing as the fifth round of the 2013 SA National Drag Racing Championship spins off on National Braai Day, 24 September at Tarlton International Raceway.

Spectators will be guaranteed some awesome competition runs amongst some of the fastest drag car competitors in South Africa.

Bringing everything to the fight will be Nico van Rensburg (Adrenalize) to keep his championship points lead over the rest of the Senior Eliminator arsenal.

Topping the Super Competition Leaderbords are Simon Slooten (Camaro), Chris Dicks (Cobra), Russell Slater (C-Dragster), Shaun Watson (T-Bucket) and Mark Slooten (Camaro), while turning up the heat to gain some points lead will be Louwtjie van den Berg in the “Who’s the boss II” Chevy 2 and Johan van Zyl in the 8,5 litre fuel-injected Corvette “Forever Young” followed by Jannie Badenhorst in the turbo-charged “BranchWorx” Opel Corsa.

Street Eliminator will have two brackets racing on the day, Super Street with a race bracket of 11 to 14 seconds.

Biker fans will be spoilt also with most of the country’s fastest street and drag bikes with riders such as Jerry Lombard (Suzuki), Zafar Hoosen (Suzuki), and Shaun and Bertus Breedt (Suzuki’s).

Tickets will be available at the main gate on the day at R80 for adults and R40 for children (ages six to 12).

Tarlton offers loads of free parking and take-away food and refreshments are available at the venue. The gates open at 7am and racing is set to start at around 8am. Should the event rain out, it will be re-scheduled for Sunday 29 September.
