Thanyani Marageni hosted a Woman's Day celebration of lunch and great entertainment.

In celebration of National Women’s Day, women dressed to the nines to attend an inspirational event hosted at Cedar Lodge in Krugersdorp.

Women of all shapes and sizes gathered to celebrate Women’s Day over lunch with the owner of Thanya Productions, Thanyani Marageni.

Among the guests were representatives of Harcourts Rhino, which gave away some prizes, Noluthando Mangole who is the MMC for Integrated Environmental Management at Mogale City, Ntsiki Khumalo, wife of the Rand West City Executive Mayor, and the guest of honor, Muvhango actor, Lesley Musina.

The day was filled with motivation and great entertainment from opera singer Kgololo Polelo who serenaded the women. Opening the ceremony was Lorraine Gossayn, the owner of the lodge who praised Thanyani, one business owner to the other. Thereafter the woman of the moment, Thanyani herself stepped forward to give a motivating talk.

“Since I love hosting events I realised that it’s fitting to host a Women’s Day event on the West Rand because we don’t have such events here. I wanted women to celebrate with each other instead of being at home on this day,” Thanyani told the News.

She views events such as this as a form of women empowerment because women can gather in one room and talk, inspire, learn and motivate each other.

The women followed the theme for the day, which was navy blue and pink, and came dressed to the nines. They screamed in excitement when they saw actor Lesley Musina, who gave an interesting talk about the rules of life. He also gave a few of the women a practical lesson on his hover-board.

Women’s Day is a special day for women and I want women to know that they beget life, they are the pearls of the earth and there’s nothing more special than them,” Lesley said. The actor went on to share his life experiences, much to the women’s delight.

Another speaker, Noluthando Mangole spoke about leadership. “Do not take yourself lightly because even people who work as cleaners are able to lead us in cleaning. We are all leaders in our own different ways,” she told the attentive crowd.

The women were each given gifts from Basket Bakery at the end of the event.
