UPDATE: Elderly couple in Haenertsburg attacked
An elderly couple in Haenertsburg was attacked and beaten on their farm in Haenertsburg in the early hours of today.
According to Marius Jacobs of Northern Security four young males ransacked the couples’ home and stole their KB250 bakkie with the registration CVV877L.
It is alleged that the couple woke up at about 03:00 to a main bedroom window being smashed according to a message on a private Whatsapp group.
The men climbed through the windows and started beating the couple.
The suspects took the victims’ cellphones and threatened to kill them if they made any noise while they ransacked their home.
An employee of the couple was also tied up and his cellphone was taken.
The home was wiped clean to destroy any fingerprints.
They then threatened to come back and kill the victims before they left in the bakkie.
The employee managed to free himself about an hour later and helped the couple.
All three of them walked to a neighbour’s house.
A tracker has been fitted to the vehicle and the company has been notified.
SAPS responded well and further investigation is in progress said the Whatsapp message.
Also, the couple has been taken to a doctor for their injuries.
